About Liz

Are you suffering from chronic gastrointestinal problems? Do you need to know where the nearest bathroom is? Has your life been overtaken by the pain, discomfort, and embarrassment of digestive pain or urgency? Or maybe you have the opposite problem. Perhaps you are thankful when you do need a bathroom.

You are not alone; I promise you that! I have a few potty emergency stories I could tell you here, yet I will wait until we get to know each other better.

In my private practice, both acupuncture and functional (root cause) medicine, I work with many people with digestive problems just like yours. Some are debilitating, and some are merely annoying. I have been successful in helping many patients get significantly better. There is hope. You, too, could get relief and get back to a more normal life.

I love nothing more than hearing my patients say, “I thought this would never get better. I almost gave up hope.”

I would love to help you, too.

Liz Newman LAc

The practice of functional medicine, also known as root cause medicine, focuses on gut (gastrointestinal) health. The health of the gut is the foundation of the health of the whole body.

Gut health is my specialty. The bonus is that gut health leads to full health.

Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” WHO

I have been studying and practicing healthcare for over 30 years. It is what I love to do. I was pre-med in college, and though I did not go to medical school, I never stopped researching and sharing what I was learning. In 2009, I decided to make it official. I went to graduate school for four years to study Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine consists of much more than acupuncture. It includes nutrition, herbal therapy, and other bodywork techniques such as cupping and tuina (Chinese massage).

Never satisfied with my amount of knowledge, I completed a full year certification course with the fantastic Chris Kresser. Chris is a leading expert on functional (root cause) medicine. His ADAPT training is an in-depth study of the gut (gastrointestinal system), the endocrine system (think thyroid), and blood chemistry to measure health markers such as thyroid hormones, blood glucose levels, and cholesterol. The goal of functional medicine is to prevent and reverse chronic disease, starting with gut health.

Why is the health of your gut so important?

An unhealthy digestive system can lead to a wide array of symptoms, including but not limited to:

• Gas and bloating
• Unexplained abdominal pain
• Uncontrollable diarrhea
• Constipation
• Skin problems
• Allergies
• Hormone imbalances
• Thyroid disorders
• Diabetes
• Heart disease
• Unexplained weight gain
• Generalized pain

My goal and my joy are to help as many people as I can heal their gut and return to the healthy, happy life that they once knew.
I do not use the latest fads or gimmicks. I use real-life experience, evidence-based diagnostics, and treatment protocols that stand the test of time.

Feel free to contact me to set up a free 15-minute telephone consultation to determine how I can help you.

I look forward to working together.
In good health,

Liz
